Rancho Santa Fe Homes
Rancho Santa Fe homes have a unique and distinctive style within San Diego's
North County homes. Many of the homes are luxury estates on one plus acre lots
and have a rural charm with rolling hills, and built with a Spanish Hacienda,
Mediterranean or traditional Ranch flavor. Rancho Santa Fe is known for its
horse properties, large open spaces, mature trees and a very low density population
spread over approximately 10,000 acres of prime residential land. The area is
between 30 and 40 minutes from downtown San Diego. Rancho Santa Fe comprises
of the following neighborhoods.
Each neighborhood in Rancho Santa Fe is one of several exclusive residential
estate enclaves in the unincorporated area of the Rancho Santa Fe community.
Rancho Santa Fe lies directly east of the City of Solana Beach and the Del
Mar Racetrack areas which abut the Pacific Ocean, and the community is bounded
by the San Dieguito River Valley and lagoon on one side and Escondido Creek
and San Elijo Lagoon on the other. The quaint village town center of Rancho
Santa Fe is about five miles from the oceanfront.
Rancho Santa Fe Covenant, is a California Historic Landmark. In the 1920s,
architect Lillian Rice planned the subdivision and many of the public buildings
throughout town. Her vision of Spanish Colonial Revival set the standard for
most of the buildings in the downtown area. The unincorporated area of Rancho
Santa Fe is one the most affluent communities in America and leads the nation
in both per capita income and home values.
Whispering Palms
Whispering Palms is a neighborhood of 554 homesites (210 condos) built around the private
Morgan Run Resort and Club, which features golf, tennis, and restaurant facilities.
Part of the original 8,824 acre neighborhood was developed in the early 1960s
by developer Richard Cavanaugh. It is in the Solana Beach School District,
and students have the option of attending Solana Santa Fe or Skyline/Solana
Vista Elementary schools, as well as Earl Warren Middle School and either Torrey
Pines High School or San Dieguito Academy. The only gated section in Whispering
Palms is Alcala, a condominium complex.
